PREVIEW: Nick Pritchard's F81 M3 Touring
Regular readers of the Meguiar’s blog will be all too familiar with Nick Pritchard. As the proud owner of an immaculate Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500, Nick’s spent his fair share of time within the Meguiar’s detailing bay ensuring his future classic is kept in A1 condition all year round. But fast, rare Fords aside, Nick shares a serious passion for estates. Hear us out before you question his sanity…
We’re not talking about regular estates – we’re talking about super-fast oddities! Those with V10s and V8s crammed into otherwise boring-looking family wagons, and if it’s not an engine offered by the manufacturer Nick will go ahead and build his own version, just like his V8 supercharged E92 M3 project featured over on Speedhunters back in 2014.
But after his prized E92 came to an untimely end in 2017, Nick dusted himself off and decided to approach his next project the only way he knows best: bigger and better!
BMW never officially produced any M3 in Touring format, and after the launch of the F80 back in 2014 it was obvious once again this simplu wouldn’t be the case. But just because BMW doesn’t produce something doesn’t mean it can’t be made…
Step forward his 2018 project, an F81 M3 Touring – possibly the world’s first – running full BMW M3 running gear including twin-turbo straight six, brakes, transmission and much more. He’s even had the arches flared accordingly and the whole build painted in San Marino Blue Metallic – a colour found on the M4 CS special edition.
There’s still a huge list of final tweaks left to be completed, but in the pictures we’ve seen so far it’s safe to say Nick’s F81 M3 Touring is already looking outrageously good. We look forward to welcoming Nick back into the detailing bay very soon!
