Fresh paint @ Reflex Auto Design for the Meguiar's Econoline!
Earlier in the month we introduced you to our latest project car for 2017, a 1966 Ford Econoline being built to help promote our Mirror Bright cleaning range. This build isn’t about bling wheels and slammed suspension – we’ve got the Crown Vic for that – but rather a demonstration in bringing a classic car back to its former glory using either new or refurbished parts along the way.
With just a few weeks to go until its big unveiling @ Goodwood Revival, it’s safe to say the guys @ Reflex have been flat out preparing the Econoline for its fresh new paint. We’ll be using all our consumer products on the paintwork as well as putting it under scrutiny in the detailing bay, so no pressure then…
Truth be told we know the guys at Reflex do stunning work otherwise we wouldn’t be entrusting them with such a big job. Having used them for the Crown Vic in the past (as well as detailing several of their vehicles in the bay) Johnny and the team are nothing short of perfectionists regardless of the job. In fact, alongside the Econoline the team are also working on a Jaguar E-Type and a Scirocco BTCC car! We do love a bit of diversity.
Earlier today the last of the paintwork was applied to the Econoline bodywork after hours and hours of extensive prep – a consuming but necessary step of any good respray. We’ve opted for a two-tone approach with the main body painted in the same cream shade as our Mirror Bright bottles and the roof a gloss black for a period-correct look. It’s looking nothing short of stunning already, but there’s a long way to go before Meguiar’s can get our hands on it – not least bolting ALL the trim and parts back together.
We’ll bring you a final update before it’s big unveiling in September, but in the meantime make sure you follow the Meguiar’s UK Instagram page for real time updates as they happen: http://instagram.com/meguiarsuk
