GALLERY: Meguiar's @ Autosport International 2017
It’s one of the longest-running events in the automotive calendar and at times it can feel a tad repetetive, but you know what? We absolutely love Autosport International here at Meguiar’s, and not just for the chance to see so many iconic race cars under one roof.
Autosport signals the end of the winter break, and while we may be a month or two away from the likes of Ultimate Dubs, the automotive industry gets well and truly woken up by Autosport. Track days arrive thick and fast, tuners showcase their latest technologies for 2017 and it gives everyone a chance to catch-up after the Christmas break. What’s not to love about that?
Once again taking over the Birmingham NEC Arena from Thursday through to Sunday, Autosport International is the largest motorsport-themed event in Europe attracting some 80,000 visitors through the doors. From high-tech engineering to classic F1 racers and everything in between, if you love motorsport and tuning it’s always a must-visit show.
Earlier in the month, Meguiar’s had the pleasure of detailing the three Liberty Walk EU cars ahead of the show including a Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari 458 Italia and Mini Cooper S. With satin bodywork, titanium exhausts and air suspension it was almost impossible to miss these wild creations on display, and having undergone the full treatment in the week running up to Autosport Meguiar’s ensured they remained super-clean for the entire event.
But it wasn’t just the Liberty Walk cars representing Meguiar’s – across the hall lurked Car Audio & Security, who’s giant stand consisted of their demo car fleet including an E30 M3, Ford Mustang, BMW M4 and Dodge Challenger which underwent a full correction in the Meguiar’s detailing bay at the end of last year. It’s great to see the Car Audio & Security fleet looking fresh and clean at every event using nothing but Meguiar’s product – practice what you preach after all…
Another car close to Meguiar’s is the prepnlay BMW Compact driven by Russell Dack. Originally starting life as an E46 with the 2.5i engine, Russell and the team converted the BMW to a championship-winning race car for just £12,000 – winning the 2016 Kumho BMW Championship in the process. It also happens to be just about the cleanest race car on the grid, too! We’ll be bringing you a more detailed look at this car later in the month.
It was great to see so many familiar faces at Autosport International and we’re looking forward to the show season fully kicking off in the next few weeks. Make sure you check the Meguiar’s blog regularly see exactly what shows we’ll be attending and when.
