If you’re a car fan in the UK, it’s safe to say you’ve got it pretty good. Every weekend – without fail – there’s guaranteed to be some form of meet, show or social event all reachable with a tank of V-Power. But if you’re willing to go that little bit further, crossing the Irish Sea in the process, you’ll be rewarded with a whole new level of car fans and their jaw-dropping motors!

It’s easy to forget our car-mad neighbors over in Ireland, but Meguiar’s UK knows they’re just as passionate for detailing and car care as the rest of us. For many years we’ve been a proud sponsor and supporter of the Ballymena Carfest & Truck Show, and with this year’s event falling on one of the hottest weekends of the year we packed up the Interceptor and headed on our way.

Variety is the spice of life at Ballymena Carfest, who welcome all aspects of car (and truck) culture – from classics and retro right through to JDM and stanced cars. It’s more than just a car show, too. Throughout the car Ballymena showcases a range of displays and stunts, as well as raising money for a range of charities with prizes and awards given throughout.

Back in 2015 the Meguiar’s Club Showcase winner was picked from Ballymena Carfest, a true testament to the time and effort our Irish friends put into their cars. One particular motor which caught our attention was Ian King’s Mini Cooper who will be joining us later in the year at the NEC too.

Great cars, great people and all for a great cause – Ireland sure know how to put on a car show, and we encourage all car fans to book yourself a ferry ticket across the pond to see for yourself the quality and quantity of cool cars.
