It’s #ThrowbackThursday once again and this week we’re rewinding the clocks back to 2000 – a year when modifying was on the verge of going global, and bigger definitely was better! Never one to do things by halves, Meguiar’s joined forces with Team Nuformz to create one of the wildest Fords on the planet – an 850bhp, front-wheel-drive, 8-second drag monster.

As you can see from the pictures, there wasn’t much of the original Ford Focus left by the time in hit the track – in fact Ford originally supplied Rob Miller and the Nuformz team with a bare shell as so little would be retained. Tubbed, caged and fitted with gigantic drag slicks (not to mention a spoiler any drift fan would be proud of) the Meguiar’s drag Focus used a 2.0-litre Zetec lump for power… albeit ‘tweaked’ with a Turbonetics turbo upgrade and a catalogue full of high-performance parts.

Keeping weight down to a minimum, the entire bodyshell was remade from carbon fibre weighing a mere 15kg in total! After this the body was handed to Dick Vale @ Kustom Kolors for the bespoke airbrushed paintwork and vibrant Meguiar’s branding. It’s safe to say this was easily one of the cleanest (and fastest) drag cars around that’s for sure. The end result was a Ford Focus dragster producing 850bhp – enough to see it launch down the 1/4-mile at a best time of 8.76-seconds @ 162mph!
